The Auckland Chapter of the Harley Owners Group ( H.O.G.) was formed in 1990 and now has a membership of around 350. We have regular monthly meeting nights and have a full riding calendar including day-long chapter rides, Ladies of Harley (LOH) rides, dinner rides, mystery rides and a regular Saturday cruises.
We hold our Chapter nights on the 4th Monday of every month (unless it is a Public Holiday and then it is normally moved to the 3rd Monday of that month) at the Akarana Golf Club, 1388 Dominion Road, Mt Roskill, Auckland. There is a cash bar and selection of great meals available for purchase at a very reasonable price from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm and don't forget to bring a little cash for the door raffles with some great prizes drawn on the night. Around 7:30 we usually have updates from our Chapter Director and other committee members after which we might also have guest speakers talking about matters of interest to club members.
Almost every Saturday afternoon we have a ride that leaves from one of our sponsoring dealer stores, Auckland Harley-Davidson at 521 Mt Wellington Highway, Mt Wellington or North Auckland Harley-Davidson at 64 Barrys Point Road, Takapuna, Auckland, at 1:00 pm. These rides are usually 2 to 3 hours in duration, approximately 90 to 150 Kms, and stop off for coffee or other beverage on the way.
Each month, on the Sunday before our Chapter night, we have our Chapter Ride. These rides leave in the morning heading either north or south outside of the Auckland region and can be around 4 to 5 hours in duration, approximately 200 to 300 Kms, stopping for lunch and fuel on the way.
We publish a quarterly magazine on-line that has photos, stories and reports on rides and information about what's coming up in the weeks ahead.
The chapter organises many other events including Ride Right Ride Safe courses (ProRider / Ride Forever), picnics, weekends away, Hard Arse rides (over 700km in a day) and the Annual Poker run with proceeds going to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Northern, the charity which Harley-Davidson has supported internationally since 1980.
We successfully hosted the 2013 New Zealand National Rally here in Auckland on February 14th at the Ellerslie Convention Centre.
