Five Dams Ride Overnighter

Ride to Whakatane on Saturday via Cambridge, Mangakino, Whakamaru and Murupara then back to Auckland on Sunday via Tauranga, Kaimai Ranges and Matamata.

We will pass over or alongside the Arapuni, Waipapa, Whakamaru, Ohakuri and Matakhina dams on Saturday. It is intended to stop briefly at all dams, except Ohakuri, for a photo.

The Five Dams ride will cover around 700km over the weekend plus the distance travelled to get from your home to Z Bombay on the Saturday and the return ride from Muddy Waters, Mercer on the Sunday. We will be travelling on some remote roads with no service stations on Saturday and for the longest leg your bike should be able to travel 250km without needing a topup.  

NOTE: This is a Closed Ride, which means it is only open to current HOG Auckland Chapter members and is suitable for experienced riders as the bulk of the ride (after Cambridge) will be on narrow country roads.

NOTE:  It will be up to you to book and pay for your own accommodation and meals over the weekend.

There has been a dinner reservation made for the group at 6:30pm so we can eat together in Whakatane on Saturday night.

The RCs brief takes place 10 minutes before the ride begins.
Please ensure your bike has a current WoF and Registration.
Pillions are welcome to join the ride.
